In the heart of Wisconsin, Devils Lake offers breathtaking views, shimmering water, and great hiking trails. Troop 61 went to Devils Lake for their annual fall campout this fall. Kicking it off on Friday, we packed for the exciting and hike-filled weekend. That night, we set up our tents and then headed to bed to ensure we were rested for the weekend. The following day, the Scouts made pancakes and sausages, cleaned camp, and gathered food and supplies for the eight-mile hike ahead. The main sights we wanted to see were the Devil’s Doorway and the great lake views from the bluffs surrounding it. After the tiring but enjoyable hike, the Scouts cooked dinner, told stories around the campfire, and then went to sleep to prepare for another Sunday hike.

On Sunday, we enjoyed the gorgeous fall weather by hiking along a stream in the Parfrey’s Glen State Natural Area. Everyone agreed that Parfrey’s Glen was a beautiful hike with vegetation, rocks, and water. As a reward for resilience and hiking all those miles, the Scoutmaster treated the Scouts to ice cream at the Merrimac Ferry. Thank you for the much-appreciated treat.

Unfortunately, it was time to return to our busy lives and head home.
